Thank you. The electoral college system itself is confusing to a foreign like me to begin with, without getting into Congressional splitting. Hell, if I wasn't as interested in elections as I am, I would've needed the lecture the BBC gave out when offering coverage. Incidentally, North Carolina has been called for Obama just now. Obama is very likely to take Nebraska's second congressional district, but it's not absolutely certain yet; see [1]. FiveThirtyEight (who have been extremely reliable and predictive this year) have projected it for Obama too. Sceptre (talk) 04:39, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Fixed. ...with a tweak to the pie chart orienting it with Blue on the Left and Red on the Right, going over the top to pass the 270 mark. Now there is just one more adjustment to make: Missouri. Question about cartogram

Hello... can you please explain what the three rogue boxes represent just below CT? Thanks!

That's supposed to be Long Island! If you count up all the mainland NY boxes with those three, it should total 31. Notice over the top of Wisconsin there are the three similar boxes hanging out with no label as well. Those are supposed to represent Michigan's UP. Obviously there are severe limitations when you try to draw states with coarse boxes, but this representation attempts to capture certain prominent features, like Cape Cod, Key West, San Francisco Bay, as well as Lake Michigan and New York Harbor.

If anyone would like to try improving it, I'd be glad to supply the source Powerpoint document.ChrisnHouston (talk) 23:30, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Request to add 112th Congress to Combined--Control of the House and Senate...

I like the infographic File:Combined--Control of the U.S. House of Representatives - Control of the U.S. Senate.png; is the source available so that it can more easily be updated for the 112th Congress and perhaps rendered as an .svg? Thank you, MarkWarren (talk) 19:46, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

I think it's a great image too! Or at least has potential to be. Tonight I learned that several errors had been found way back in Nov2010, but for whatever reason these went uncorrected. I fixed the errors where the Presidents' bar had the party reversed. It looks like more work needs to be done before this becomes a top quality image.

As for the source data, Taylorluker created the two images that I cited as the source of what I posted. All I did was cut & paste from those two images. I haven't yet found the raw data, but I agree that this can be an amazingly useful image to keep it up to date ...and to make sure that the info being presented is accurate!--ChrisnHouston (talk) 09:10, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Ok, I feel a lot more confident about the accuracy of the image now. I looked up the supposed error regarding Senate majority during Reagan's terms, and the person who made that claim is clearly the one who is mistaken. As for extending the timeline, we can just use the data presented here:

83rd Congress and Control of the U.S. House of Representatives

In your excellent chart, I fear that I have found a small error. The GOP regained control of the House during the 83rd Congress, as the line graph shows, but you appear to show Democrats retaining control from '51 to '95 in the shading. I am not certain if this is the best way to note this apparent discrepancy, so ask you to pardon me if I have erred. Czrisher (talk) 16:41, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
